What is Reigns: Game of Thrones?

Okay we'll get the big one out of the way first. The Reigns series of games are essentially Tinder-meets-the-monarchy. Every choice you make, you make by swiping left or right on a picture. You then have to deal with the consequences.

We're big fans of the games here. When we reviewed the original Reigns we called it "a clever subversion of strategy and casual mobile play that makes you laugh, cry, and think," and gave it a Silver Award. Click here and you can read our full review.

And we described its sequel, Reigns: Her Majesty as "a clever choose-your-own-adventure game that's going to keep you occupied for a good long while," and gave that a Silver Award too. Click here to check out the review in all of its glory.

Reigns: Game of Thrones takes the template of the first two games and transplants it to the world of everyone's favourite swords-and-incest TV show. Instead of playing a fictional monarch, you're playing a really really famous fictional monarch.

You can expect to see familiar faces, locations, and even dragons popping up from time to time, and there are loads of secrets to discover along the way. The controls are the same for the most part, with left and right swipes making all of your decisions.

But there are some really interesting new twists to what came before too. We can't tell you much about them right now, but they definitely make the whole experience feel that little bit more Game of Thrones-y.

Who's developing Reigns: Game of Thrones?

The team behind the game is essentially the same team behind the original games. Francois and Tamara Alliot are in charge of most of the script, while the words of Cersei Lannister have been penned by Leigh Alexander.

Art comes from Arnaud De Bock and Irene Navarro, with music by Eric Van Amerongen.

The game is built in Unity, and come Thursday you'll be able to play it on Android and iOS. The Steam version comes out on the same day, and you'll be able to play that on Windows, MacOS, and Linux apparently.

3
How much will Reigns: Game of Thrones cost?

It's going to set you back £3.99 on the App Store, and it's similarly priced elsewhere. If you've not yet, you can pre-order for game for Android, iOS, or Steam.

How do you do that? Click here to pre-order for iOS, click here to pre-register on the Google Play Store, and click here to get your order in at the game's Steam page.

There are no IAP in the game by the looks of things, so it's a one-off purchase and then you're good to go.
