A new Pokemon will appear in Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee

A mystery Pokemon appeared in Pokemon GO this past weekend, only to turn into a Ditto upon being caught. Was the odd-looking creature a placeholder for big things to come or a strange glitch? Well, it turns out it is quite real—Meltan will be making its official debut in Pokemon GO and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Let’s Go, Eevee.

Meltan is a mythical Steel-type Pokemon. It’s official Pokedex entry reads:

Most of Meltan’s body is made from liquid metal, and its shape is very fluid. It can use its liquid arms and legs to corrode metal and absorb it into its own body. Meltan generates electricity using the metal it absorbs from outside sources. It uses this electricity as an energy source and also as an attack that can be fired from its eye. Clearly a curious Pokémon, Meltan is very expressive and shows an interest in all kinds of things.

The Pokemon Company hints that Pokemon GO will be essential to finding Meltan in Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Let’s Go, Eevee, perhaps via a new Research Task from Professor Willow. Details are sparse for now, so we’ll have to wait for more news for the time being.

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee launch on November 16. Nintendo Switch bundles for the game just went up for pre-order over the past few days.
