The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is coming to Switch and it's full of tabletop nostalgia
Many adventures
The gamebook may have been brought about by Iain Livingstone and Steve Jackson back in the 80s, but The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is headed to the Switch. Its new Goblin Scourge Edition will be launching on September 13th for $29.99. Though, you can pre-order it later today for $23.99.
For those that don't know, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is a tabletop-inspired RPG adventure based on the classic gamebook. While there will still be a detailed narrative to sink into, it'll feature a whole bunch of playable characters which move about like board game pieces.
Each character has their own reason for venturing into the mountain, and with each one you choose to play as you'll get to experience unique story and combat.
When I first heard the news I thought we'd be looking at something similar to the Sorcery! series, but, after watching the trailer, this has an interesting mix of turn-based combat, RPG, narrative, and tabletop play.
