Update: SEGA shares more details on Valkyria Chronicles for Switch

Updated 04/09/18: Following all of the PAX West excitement, Sega took some time this week to lay out all the details regarding the original Valkyria Chronicles’ arrival on Nintendo Switch, including a new trailer that should hit you right in the nostalgia.

We now know that the Switch version will include all of the DLC from the original game, presenting a complete experience. The game follows the tale of Lieutenant Welkin Gunther and Squad 7, and it should serve as the perfect complement to Valkyria Chronicles 4, which arrives a few weeks before.

On top of all of that, we now have a release schedule for Valkyria Chronicles 4’s add-on missions. Here’s the breakdown from Sega (prices only in USD at the moment, unfortunately):

Valkyria Chronicles will be available for download on October 16, and those who own a copy of Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be able to grab the game at a 25% discount.

The original Valkyria Chronicles is headed to Nintendo Switch shortly after Valkyria Chronicles 4 makes its debut on the console later this month. We’ve suspected it for a while, but Sega made it official this weekend at PAX West.

Sega was quick to confirm that the Switch version is not the remastered version that was released on the PlayStation 4 and other platforms, so it’s unclear how the game will look or perform on the Switch.

Valkyria Chronicles has swiftly become a modern classic, presenting rich, varied strategy RPG gameplay with a moving story and memorable characters, so naturally folks are excited to see the game find a new home on Nintendo Switch.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 arrives on Switch on September 25, and you can expect Valkyria Chronicles to follow shortly after on October 16. Players who already own Valkyria Chronicles 4 will get a $5 discount on the first game.
