Flippfly, the maker of the excellent Race the Sun, has announced a new game along with a release date. Evergarden will be playable on iOS on August 16th, just two weeks away!

Evergarden is a puzzler where you have to make certain shapes on a hexagonal board. The trailer shows a few different ways of doing this - one involving moving around triangles, one where you bounce light of surfaces, and one which has you make big beautiful flowers. There does seem to be a fair degree of variation in the levels, which will hopefully keep things fresh and interesting.

It's hard to say what the story will be about exactly if there even is one in the first place, the trailer is quite abstract after all. The forest you're exploring in the game does feel rather mysterious, so perhaps we'll uncover its secrets as we make our way through it.

Evergarden's aesthetics are also quite pleasing indeed, the music is chilled and atmospheric, while the art is easy on the eyes. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the game in all of its glory on Apple's nice retina display.

Race the Sun was absolutely awesome and it's interesting to see how different this game is in comparison. Race the Sun was all about speed and trying not to collide with walls, but this seems much more relaxed and slower paced.

Regardless of its differences, we have high expectations for Evergarden. You'll be able to play it on August 16th on iOS for £5.99 / $5.99 and if you want, you can pre-order it now to get it the moment it's released.
