Ever since Nintendo's cardboard creation kit Labo first launched, we've been wondering how the company was going to support it – and now we know.

A third kit, known as the Vehicle Kit, is due to launch on September 14th and comes with a bunch of new things to make, including a car, submarine, and plane.

Rather than giving you a bunch of mini-games to play, this time around it looks like you'll have an open world to explore, with the ability to switch between your vehicles on the fly. Which is pretty damned cool, I must say.

There will be some things to do within the world – there's a brief glimpse of races with all the different vehicles, collectibles to find, and mech battles (I think?) – but even just roaming about will no doubt be a lot of fun.

There's also some co-op stuff to do too. The trailer shows one player driving about while another mans a gun turret to blow stuff up on the move, so it's no longer just a solo experience after you've put your kit together.

The included kit is all well and good, but I'm already thinking about how this will almost definitely be used in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe once it's released. We've already had bikes updated with Labo functionality, and with a full steering wheel at your disposal, there's no reason why they won't run the whole gamut this time around.

Either way, you can expect the new Vehicle Kit to drop on September 14th for $79.99. There's no word on a UK price yet, but you can expect it to be around £69.99 based on previous pricing.
