If you've been kicking around for a while, you'll know that I get hot and cold about Nintendo Labo. It's a great idea, but it's expensive. It provides a great opportunity for creatives, but only if they put the time in - you get the idea. Ninty's recent set of Creative Contest winners, however, have taken it to another level.

Having run a little while back, the winners were announced at the weekend and it was split into three major categories: Best Decorated Toy-Con, Best Toy-Con Mod Using Toy-Con Garage, and Best Original Invention Using Toy-Con Garage.

While the first two categories hold some really awesome constructions, especially the neat games, 'Creature Says!' and 'Labo Fix-It', it's the third category which is blowing my mind.

Starting with 'Tea Time' (already relating), you have to fill four cardboard teapots and serve customers before they leave in a huff. Though it starts off pretty simple, things will eventually ramp up as you get multiple customers at a time. It's a simple concept, but it's so cool.

Next is the solar-powered cardboard accordion and, yes, it's as cool as it sounds. Made by Momonga, this accordion uses sunlight to trigger sound. While the right Joy-Con seeks light, the left Joy-Con changes volume depending on the angle it's tilted at. Though she says anyone can make it, I'll stick myself in the minority that certainly cannot and peer on jealously.

Finally, it's 'Don't Break The Line', an arcade-style game which starts with a 25c coin and finishes either when you lose or when the box spits out candy. While the game is straight forward to play, I'm most excited about the build itself. Abe's design is so wonderfully detailed and a lot of fun.

Ninty's next Labo competition starts later this week and features two categories: Best Toy-Con Musical Instrument and Best Gaming Experience Using Toy-Con Garage. I'm pretty excited to see the winners of this one, too.
