The original 151 Pokemon are getting all new plushies in Japan

Today, Nintendo announced a new collection of Pokemon plush toys will be launching in Japan, paying homage to the original 151 Pokemon. According to an announcement on the official Pokemon website, each of the 151 original Pokemon will be getting their own plush toy, and you can get a preview of a few of them in the image below.

Pokemon plushies

The plushies will be released in batches. The first will include thirty Generation 1 Pokemon and will launch this month at Japanese Pokemon Centers. The second batch includes 121 plushies to complete the collection, and you can expect that to release this fall. They’ll retail for about 1,100 yen or approximately £10 pounds, so if you want to collect them all, you might want to start saving.

The plushies are currently only releasing in Japan, so we’ll have to wait and see if they make their way to the official US Pokemon Center. Otherwise eager collectors will have to seek these toys out on eBay and the like.

If you could choose one Pokemon from this plushie collection, which would it be? Let us know in the comments.
