Fortnite's new Playground Mode lets you practice your skills without stressing

First covered last week, Fortnite's eagerly-awaited Playground Mode is finally available across all of the usual channels. As well as that, version 4.5 has a few little details to add too.

Version 4.5 might not be a substantial beast, but there's a brand new gun to muck about with and it'll probably make you feel like a '20s gangster when you wield it. The new Drum Gun has the fire rate of an SMG with the stopping power of a rifle. Though the odds are against you, this Legendary weapon won't be impossible to come by.

On the other side of things, you can now fool around in Fortnite's Playground Mode. It was originally slated for release last week, but got delayed by a little bit while things were being fine-tuned.

If you enjoy the game but find its competition a little too much at times, Playground may well be the ideal solution for you. This low-pressure environment lets you and your pals run about, build structures, practice with different weapons, and respawn when one of them shoots you in the face.

As someone who's been off the game for a few months (because priorities), this seems like the ultimate way to ease my way back in without dying straight away. It's also a neat way for nervous newcomers to the game to get to grips with things before diving in with the big boys.
