Super Mario Party for Switch is bringing online multiplayer to the series for the first time
A mini super party
Super Mario Party, just announced at E3 as coming out in October, will feature an online minigame mode, according to a tweet from Nintendo UK.
A series first: in Super #MarioParty, test your skills against other players in a new online minigame mode! Coming to #NintendoSwitch on 05/10. pic.twitter.com/dTaPDN0CcG — Nintendo UK (@NintendoUK) June 14, 2018
We already know that Super Mario Party will bring more to the original board game experience, with new modes, deeper strategy, and new ways to play with the Joy-Cons. But this will be the first time an online presence has been added to the game.
Some players are nervous about the minigame mode aspect, as it seems to hint that you won't really get to play the full game against online players, but just the multiple minigames that exist across the board.
It's hard to know for sure based off of one tweet, so hopefully more information will come out. Either way, it's at least a step towards an online presence for the game, even if it isn't the full experience.
