Guns of Boom is firing off its first ever esports season starting on June 9. Developer Game Insight is pairing up with ESL to launch the game’s entry into the esports scene, and will be offering $200,000 in cash prizes.
If you haven’t played it, Guns of Boom is one of the first games to prove that mobile first-person shooters can, in fact, be good. Its elegant controls make gun play fast and smooth, so it’s easy to see why Guns of Boom, which has garnered 50 million players in its short lifetime, is moving into mobile esports.
Players level 22 or higher from North America and Europe are eligible to participate in the Go4 Open Cups this June. The competition will take place in Guns of Boom’s newly released PRO Play Mode, which was designed especially for esports. Created with fairness in mind, PRO Play Mode ensures all players are on an even playing field in terms of stats, meaning pro matches will be purely skill-based. The top four teams from the Go4 Cups will move on to the Guns of Boom European Invitational in Katowice, Poland on July 29. Later in 2018, the top eight teams from around the world will then head to the championships in Los Angeles.
