Anyone who made the mistake of buying RiME on the Switch at launch understood pretty quickly that the game was a bit of a mess. Thankfully Tequila Works has pulled through and improved a heck of a lot in version 1.0.2.

Just to fill you in quickly, when RiME released on the Switch last year it didn't deliver like consumers thought it would, despite the team pushing the launch date back from January to November 2017. We actually gave it a Silver Award in its review, though you guys weren't too sure about the score.

Version 1.0.2 takes a whack at the visual issues in the game. As it's mentioned on its official blog post and over on Reddit, there's very little that can be done about the volume streaming unless the game's torn apart and built again from the ground up (which obviously isn't happening).

Others in the community on Reddit and Twitter have also noted that the performance still isn't great, but it's hugely better than it was and looks closer to the PS4 release. Looking at the video from Direct-Feed Games (above) it's safe to say the difference is noticeable in both positive and negative ways.

The patch is 2.9 GB, so certainly not a small one. Between stabilising FPS, increasing view distance, improving visuals, and tweaking a lot of details here and there, at least the project wasn't abandoned and was worked on with care.

Now all we need is a patch for The Sexy Brutale.
