If you're looking for a new board game to tide you over this week, you might be a little disappointed. But I've got a recommendation for you.

How do you feel about cards? How do you feel about battles? How do you feel about strategic combat on a tightly controlled board? Sounds good, right? So maybe you should be picking up Hero Academy 2.

Sure it's not a pure-and-simple board game, but there's an undercurrent here that harks back to plenty of swords-and-sorcery board games. It's simpler, but it's still an awful, awful lot of fun.

Don't believe me? Well check out our review for a rundown of all the good stuff the game has to offer.

There's deck-building as well. As you collect more cards you can pick and choose which ones to take into fights with you. Maybe you want a more defensive team? Maybe you're all about attack. It's all up to you.

And if multiplayer isn't your bag, there are plenty of solo scraps to work your way through. And you're going to have an awful lot of fun while you're doing it.

No, it's not going to scratch any sort of Carcassonne itch, but then there aren't many things out there that can. But if you want fast, fun, tactically thrilling turn-based play, you could do a lot worse than checking this one out.
You can click here to download the game for iOS devices. If you're a gamer of a Google persuasion, then click here to grab the game from the Play Store.
