Do you sometimes feel a little daunted by large-scale empire building board games? Well Eight-Minute Empire could well be the game you've been waiting for then. And it's just landed on the App Store.
As you might be able to guess from the name, this is a game that distills empire building into about eight minutes. It's a game for two to five players, and each turn you grab a card from a stack of six.
Cards represent resources, but they also represent actions. You take the action as soon as you pick up the card, and it can mean spreading your empire across the map.
But you get points at the end of the game for the resources you've collected too, so you need to balance expansion and production.
You can play with AI, friends, or a combination of the two, and there are different levels of AI difficulty for you to challenge yourself with. There's a lot going on here, and there's even a colourblind mode, which is pretty cool.
