| Mikey Jumps

Where does Mikey go next? He's wore shorts and jumped over stuff, swung using hooks, and even flew around using rocket-propelled boots. So where does he go next?! Well, he chills out a bit and pares back his adventures, apparently.

Mikey Jumps is Mikey as you know and love him - only on a much smaller scale. He hasn't shrunk (which is just one of the directions the series could have moved in) his adventures are just smaller.

You don't side scroll anymore, you see. Instead, the levels are much shorter and played out on a single screen, with you having to use all of the mechanics at your disposal to navigate the environment in the shortest time possible.

And the result is solid, if underwhelming compared to previous entries. We gave it a Bronze Award at review, and called it: "An entertaining platformer, but one that isn't as engaging as its predecessors".

But that's just what we think. We also asked our community in the App Army what they think, and this is what they had to say.

Tom Clark

I feel a bit burned out on mobile platformers, but this one proved quite enjoyable. The graphics are nice and the controls are easy. It's a decent time waster.

Andy King

I love this! It seems to do everything right. There's a nice colourful art style, catchy music, and a great retro theme.

I'm going to enjoy unlocking all the character customisation. Can't fault it so far will continue to play.

Kainen Ryan

This is different and so inventive in places, but I have one issue with it - it's a bit too easy. I want more challenge.

You can't go wrong in a game where you can jump and fly though.

Sjoerd de Jong

I've played all previous Mikey games and absolutely loved them - it was so much fun playing over and over until you got the fastest time. Mikey Jumps doesn't have that replayability which is a real shame.

It's nice that the developer is trying something new though, as here you have to complete a level with ten zones to unlock the next checkpoint. It gets really hard but not frustratingly difficult.

Wesley Tee

This is an awesome game. The graphics are great, it's easy to control, and the difficulty curve is smooth.

There's plenty to unlock and loads of fun to be had here.

Laura Egri

I like Mikey. There's something about this little guy that makes you want to keep on playing. It's also perfectly suited for mobile, with its simple controls, cartoon visuals, and array of sounds.

Quincy Jones

I honestly wasn't that impressed with this. It's too basic, and feels like a step back from Mikey Hooks.

It's not a bad game, it's just not particularly innovative or exciting.

Aaron Carey

I absolutely love this game - it has everything I want in a mobile platformer. There are bitesized levels that hook you, cloud sync with tvOS, simple controls which are tuned to perfection, a gradual and rewarding learning curve, and a fair pricing model!

Your move, Mario.
