[Update] Replica is a pixel art game of mystery and intrigue set on your phone, out now
Call me maybe?
The unique puzzler challenges you to search through an unknown phone to discover evidence of terrorism, in a story that explores themes of privacy and surveillance.
Replica costs £1.49 / $1.99 on the App Store.
Replica is an upcoming game from South Korean developer Somi. It uses a pixel art interface to allow you to poke and prod at a phone within your phone. The aim of the game is to discover evidence of wrongdoing within the mobile.
Everything is beautifully presented in chunky pixel art graphics, which set the game apart from other examples of the not-really-a-phone phone-poking genre. Which is a genre I literally just invented.
There's mystery, there's intrigue, there's probably shenanigans, and there are 12 different endings and eight achievements for you to unlock.
The game is set to hit the App Store on Tuesday November 15th. Which is next week. We'll keep you posted about when it hits closer to the time. In the meantime, check out the trailer at the top of the post. Ah go on.
