App Army Assemble: Blade Sliders - High score chasing action at its finest?

| Blade Sliders

Blade Sliders is a one tap high score chasing hack and slasher. Try saying that while drunk.

You have to tap to whizz around the screen, murdering enemies with a variety of brutal weaponry, and earning points for doing so. There are nine different heroes to unlock, and three different worlds to see over the course of your adventure.

There's also a bunch of obstacles to avoid, including falling ground, earthquakes, and lava pits - so it's not just enemies you have to avoid.

At review, we were a bit lukewarm on it, and described it as: "An action game that doesn't snap in the right way, and that's a real shame".

But don't just take our word for it. We also gave Blade Sliders to select members of the App Army and they had their own thoughts. Read on to learn more!

I'm not sure if I like this. It's fun, and I love zombie games, but I hated it so much at first. It grew on me the more I played though, as I grew in skill.

It's not a good looking either, and ultimately doesn't really pose much of a challenge when you've got used to it. It's fun in short bursts here and there though.

Laura Egri

I like this as it suits my routine. It's a hectic one touch hack and slasher that lets you blow off some steam while at work.

It relies heavily on quick thinking and good reflexes, and has clean graphics and smooth handling.

Tony Teulan

This is a dose of arcade fun with some fiddly controls. You have to wait for a directional arrow to appear so you can move in that direction, and it's too easy to go off the edge of the screen or fall through a crack in the earth while you wait for the correct direction to appear.

It's quite fun, but the experience is generally let down by too many ads.

Tom Clark

I'm not really into this game at all - I just don't have the reflexes. I see that it could be a great time waster for those who like this type of game. The graphics are a bit mediocre, but overall it's a pretty good effort - just not for me.

Andy King

I really wanted to like this. I loved the art style, characters, and unlocks, I'm just not a fan of the gameplay so probably wouldn't actually get around to unlocking anything

Quincy Jones

I feel with some tweaks this could be a good game. I love the music and sound design, the control system is tricky to get used to but has depth, and visually it's quite impressive - with well-designed characters and cool effects.

It's far from perfect though. The loading times tend to drag, you die too quickly, and you earn coins way too slowly. Killing one enemy gets you the same amount as killing a bunch.

Ed Davis

I agree with Quincy on pretty much everything. The graphics and music are great, but each game doesn't last long enough for you to really get into it.

You just about get in the flow of killing zombies when suddenly you fall off the edge of a cliff or down a hole. The ads are also a bit too frustrating and spoil the game.

Aaron Carey

Yeah, Quincy has it spot on. The presentation's great but it's let down by the relentless ads and slow coin gain. Having said that, you can remove ads for a mere 79p - I'm just not inclined to do it because I don't enjoy the game enough.

It's just not quite for me. I can't get the hang of tapping at the correct time.

Oksana Ryan

This game is so annoying. I don't know if I'm just slow but I'm having real problems with the navigation and keep plunging to my death over the cliffs or down holes that suddenly open under me.

I'm disappointed because I want to like this. It has good graphics and I haven't even switched the sound off because it's great - I don't usually do that.

You collect coins to unlock characters with different abilities but it's too slow because the game is so difficult. It's a shame.
