How to play as Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the rest of The Defenders on iOS

Luke Cage is currently ripping it up on Netflix, while the trailer for Iron Fist suggests that Marvel's TV universe will continue to kick on come March.

Both comic book heroes will, of course, join together along with Jessica Jones and DareDevil to form The Defenders some time next year. Think of it as a gritty, street-level version of The Avengers.

Given their relatively low-key nature, you won't find any direct tie-in mobile games for any of these characters. But they do all make appearances in a couple of games available on the App Store.

Here's how to play as The Defenders on your iPhone or iPad.

If there's one thing comic book fans want to see, it's their favourite heroes beating the tar out of one another. Just type any two superheroes with 'vs' in between into Google, and witness the results.

Marvel Contest of Champions gives us just that in the form of a fast-paced one-on-one beat-'em-up - but with a hefty collectible card-collecting system underpinning it all.

All four of Netflix's heroes can be collected and fought as here - Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and DareDevil. And mighty fine they all look too in Kabam's slick brawler.

Marvel Future Fight takes a similar structural approach to Marvel Contest of Champions in the way it lets you collect a vast range of popular (and not-so-popular) heroes to fight as.

The main difference is that it allies this to a dungeon-crawling button masher, though there's a welcome tactical edge in the bonuses that come with certain team combinations.

Once again, you can play as all four of the Netflix series Defenders - once you've unlocked them, that is.

If you've played any other Lego game, you'll know what to expect here - lots of casual, light-hearted brawling and tongue-in-cheek humour. The main -and not inconsiderable - difference with Lego Marvel Super Heroes is that you get to play as a bunch of beloved Marvel heroes. What fun!

Lego Marvel Super Heroes is a good deal more streamlined for mobile play than many other examples, though, and you don't get the full roster of available heroes from the main console game.

You won't find all of The Defenders here, then, but if you want to bring along the original Defender (in the Netflix universe) DareDevil in TT Games's enjoyable romp, you can.
