| Shadow Bug Rush

Shadow Bug was an interesting twist on the platformer, in which you played as an insect ninja and had to tap to teleport from monster to monster, slicing them up on your bloody path.

It was pretty unique, and featured a number of different obstacles to overcome, puzzles to solve, and bosses to fight.

Developer Muro Studios has just released an endless version called Shadow Bug Rush, which takes the formula but makes it endlessly replayable. There are leaderboards to climb, new enemies and loot to collect, and characters to play as.

The PG review will be with you shortly, but in the meantime we've got the thoughts of our expert gang of mobile gamers in the App Army. Read on for their opinion.

Visually, Shadow Bug Rush reminds me of LIMBO and it plays like a platformer with a twist. You tap enemies to jump and destroy them, and that's the only mechanic you can use to avoid traps.

It's shaping up to be a good game.

Olivier Boesch

This is Shadow Bug in terms of visuals and gameplay, but it's unlimited this time. It feels limited in terms of mechanics though, and can get a bit repetitive.

The best part is it lets you play as much as you want, and doesn't cram IAPs down your throat. It's nice and casual.

Erik Choong

The art style is similar to LIMBO and the mechanics are simple enough. You tap to kill chains of enemies, and have to pay close attention to timing to avoid obstacles. It's simple and casual enough to get anyone into it but it's hard to master for high score chasers.

There's also a simple upgrade system which increases your combo multiplier and introduces new enemies. It gets repetitive but rope in a few friends to compete with and it will last long on your device.

Randy Hope

Is this ever a treat! Shadow Bug Rush features a dark mechanical hellscape that you have to plow through by tapping to attack assorted fiends.

Combos are your friend as your character crashes through the environment leaving debris everywhere until you meet your inevitable and grisly death. The characters are super cool and upgrading the world is also lots of fun. It's tough, exciting, and satisfying.

However, you don't get enough time to enjoy it before you're drowned in IAPs and adverts. I can tolerate ads. Everybody needs to buy groceries but don't make me watch a commercial after the second or third time I've died.

Give me a chance to fall in love with your game. When a game is as good as this I most certainly will.

Tony Teulan

I found this got repetitive quite quickly and the ads were too in your face. I agree with Randy that if we saw them less frequently, we could get into the zone far easier.

There also needs to be a couple of extra mechanics. It looks and sounds good but the appeal ends there.

Oksana Ryan

This is excellent in short bursts. The graphics are moody and the gameplay is simple but effective - it's great to play. You tap on flying creatures to progress throughout the level, All the while large blades close in on you.

However, sometimes you find there are no flying creatures and you can only wait to die. I don't mind when I'm defeated because I'm too slow, but if you can't progress because your main method of movement isn't there, it ruins the game. Apart from that, thumbs up.
