BISBOG brought something a little different to the table at Gamescom as they let us preview Cabals: Card Blitz, a collectible card game – or rather, a tactical deck builder.

Set in an alternate-history WWI/WWII Two environment, the game's visuals are very clean and detailed. On the outside it looks like a simple card game, but Cabals: Card Blitz focusses more on the deck building element, similar to Gwent in The Witcher 3.

The actual card game plays automatically, working off of your collected deck and random chance as to what cards face up against your opponent's.

This feature is actually what interested me the most about the game. As opposed to using strategy, both players have exactly the same chance of high and low cards being drawn. That means that even if your opponent has a stronger deck than yours, you still have a chance at beating them. The asynchronous gameplay also means that you don't have to play with someone simultaneously and can find a match much faster.

Though it's in soft launch in the Philippines at the moment, the actual worldwide release will happen in a couple of months when the game's been polished up a little. Coming to iOS and Steam, Cabals: Card Blitz will be free-to-play.
