How to survive the stampede and get all the gold in Rodeo Stampede
|
| Rodeo Stampede

Rodeo Stampede is your latest mobile addiction. It challenges you to ride a bunch of animals in a variety of exotic locations, tame them, and then make a nice little home for them in your flying zoo.

The animals range from the real-life endangered to the downright zany (there's an ostrich dressed as a knight, for example), and you can check out the full list, including how to get them, in our handy guide.

What that guide doesn't cover though, is how to play the game. Considering that the rarest animals only appear after you've reached a certain distance in the stampede, you'll need some strong survival strategies.

Thankfully for you, we've played Rodeo Stampede to death to bring you the following tips and tricks to help you do just that. Good luck!

Switch animals when they're angry or in crowds

The main strategy in Rodeo Stampede is figuring out when it's best to switch to another animal.

You jump from creature to creature by releasing your thumb - this flings your character through the air. Press your thumb back down when another animal is highlighted to latch on to it.

You'll want to switch animals whenever you see a rare one appear in the stampede, when the animal you're on gets angry, or when you're in the middle of a difficult to navigate crowd.

Animals are difficult to control when they get angry, you see - though there are perks to some of their behaviour. Zebras knock back nearby animals, and giraffes can fling you higher through the air so you can grab difficult to reach animals.

Bear these behaviours in mind in case you need to use them but, for the most part, you'll want to switch animals when they try to buck you off.

The other time you'll need to switch animals is when you're in a crowded area - be that crowded with animals or environment obstacles.

You're afforded a small period of invulnerability when you switch which can be life-saving, or you could just fly over the bulk of the crowd and survive that way.

Also, some animals can unlock a perk which can give you a helping hand when you switch to them. The buffalo, for example, gets a speed boost when you land on them, and will butt animals and obstacles out of the way.

Upgrade your habitats to unlock helpful skills

There are numerous benefits to upgrading your animal's habitats. It unlocks a variety of wonderful new perks for your animals, increases the chances of rarer versions appearing in the stampede, and generally gives a big boost to your income.

Which, as a knock-on effect, lets you upgrade your habitats further.

These perks are more related to general play though, so let's focus on them. These range from increasing the amount of time it takes an animal to get angry to gifting you bonus coins while bucking on a buffalo.

There are a couple of ways you can approach this. You could be methodical, and keep all habitats roughly at the same level. Or you could figure out which your favourite animal is in terms of behaviour, and then focus on them.

Whichever way you do it, you should adapt your approach to surviving in the stampede. If you spread your upgrades far and wide, you should be able to ride each animal comfortably.

However, if you focus on a few of your favourite animals, you should focus on spending as much time on their backs as possible.

Select your animals based on the situation

Animals have different behaviours which make them good in different situations. The ostrich is a good place to start, for example, as when it's angry it runs really quickly.

As the first 1000 metres or so are pretty easy, you can use this to quickly get to a more challenging area.

Elephants, giraffes, zebras, and vultures are good in busy areas as they each have perks or behaviours which can help you survive. Buffalo are handy to switch to as their speed boost is kind of like a tiny dose of invulnerability.

You also can't unlock certain animals unless you use the unique behaviour of another, like the giraffe's ability to fling you really high in the sky.
