[Update] 2D Retro platformer 2-bit Cowboy Rides Again in westernvania sequel, out now on iOS

Update on June 9 at 14:45: Crescent Moon's 2-bit Cowboy Rides Again is out now, on iOS for $1.99.

Defined as a "Westervania", a Metroidvania set in a western settings, it's bound to be interesting for retro gamers.

There's no need for a grand story or an excuse to get back in the action when your retro platformer is trying to emulate the good old days of 2D platformers.

2-bit Cowboy came out 2 years ago and we thought it did its job quite well. We even said it was a surprisingly expansive platformer that combines Game Boy visuals with open level design to decent effect.

Now Crescent Moon is readying its sequel, 2-bit Cowboy Rides Again, which should come out "in the next few weeks" on iOS. This time, you'll be able to customize your character and play as a boy or a girl. The gameplay's quite enhanced now with playable casinos and saloon and you'll even be able to ride horses, bulls and minecarts. And nothing says western like minecarts.

The game will also support MFi controllers. We'll let you know when it's out on the App Store.
