Virtual reality real-time strategy title Tactera has been an ever-present talking point since a well received early demo late last year. Now, the independent developer behind the title, E Mcneil, has announced the game will be launching on Gear VR later this month, with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift versions also on the cards.

Tactera asks players to become tactical masterminds as they take on the role of commander in a futuristic war room. You'll be moving your troops across a holographic landscape to try and get the upper hand on your enemies. Rather than build orders, resource collection and micromanagement, this is focussed more on the high-end strategy. We'll be getting hands on with the full version of the game in the next few days.

The full version is bigger and better than the demo. As McNeil statesl on the official Tactera blog: “The biggest of those are the creation of a campaign mode and the addition of six new unit types. I’ll be sharing more details about those in the coming weeks.”

The Gear VR edition of Tactera will be available from the 31st May 2016 and will be priced at $9.99. The Rift and Vive version of the game are currently in development but no specific release date has been announced.
