A trailer showcasing new Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon footage has been released.

The trailer also shows the three Pokémon partner characters you'll encounter in the game.

There's Rowlet, the flying grass firing Owl who can move silently through the skies and sneak up on his enemies.

Rowlet attacks using powerful kicks and has an attack known as Leafage from the start of the game which is range-based and morphs leaves with his feathers.

Rowlett can also survey his environment from front to back with his rotating neck. Next is Litten the fire breathing kitty, who has fur rich in flammable oil. Litten can collect loose furballs and use them as fireball attacks to attack enemies. His starting move is known as Ember.

Finally, there's Poppilo, a water-squiring sea-lion who has already proven to be pretty divisive in the community.

He starts the game with a Water Gun, but can create water balloons from his nostrils and utilise them in various different ways.

Poppilo moves best through the water, but on land he can use the elasticity of balloons to perform jumps and acrobatic stunts.

A Japanese trailer has also confirmed that you can pick the skin tone of these characters.

The games are expected to release in the East on November 18th and in Europe on November 23rd

In a year where Nintendo had originally promised a new Zelda and potentially a new gaming system - both seeing delays -news that Pokémon is still on track will be a welcome relief for many fans.

For now, here's the European trailer with some new gameplay footage and those cute little critters in action.
