Square Enix Montreal hire Fez and Hyper Light Drifter developers

Square Enix Montreal has already brought us the phenomenal Hitman Sniper, as well as Hitman GO, and our Overall Game of the Year 2016, Lara Croft GO. Now the studio appears to be cooking up something new and exciting.

And to help with the ongoing development, Square Enix Montreal has hired two of the hottest independent developers on the scene.

Teddy Dief, developer of Hyper Light Drifter, has been brought on as a Creative Director for the studios' next game.

In addition, Renaud Bédard, one of the lead programmers who worked on Fez, has also joined the team to work alongside Dief to help realise this project.

You can view the announcement tweet right here.

What they're working on is anyone's guess. Square has access to a wide-range of world-famous IP, such as Final Fantasy, Deus Ex, and Just Cause.

It's also entirely possible that this will be a brand new intellectual property.

One thing we do know is that Square Enix Montreal has had a huge impact on the mobile space in recent years and we'll be watching the development of their next title very closely.
