Horizon's Edge is an upcoming free to play action RPG in which you have to form a party from a selection of legendary heroes and save the world.

You can battle alone or with another player in cooperative raids or dungeons, in the latter of which you'll earn rare gems and weapons if you defeat the boss at the end.

The battle system is pretty unique. You'll set up a party of three and take turns spinning your heroes around to change which one's at the front. The party member in front is your active hero, and will unleash their abilities on the monsters.

We reached out to Ariel Ang, the Creative Director at developer Oddity, to learn more about how Horizon's Edge sets itself apart, the challenges faced during development, and the plans for future updates.

What do you think Horizon's Edge offers that you can’t get from any other title on the App Store?

"Horizon's Edge features a unique battle system unlike any RPG you've played on the App Store.

"Ranging over more than 30 characters, Synergize your heroes, each with a singular ability by which you will conquer your foes with."

What challenges did you face during development, and how did you overcome them?

"We're a small indie team so we faced many challenges - the biggest of which was to develop a game we wanted to with such limited time and budget.

"You can call Horizon's Edge a passion project, as each aspect of the game has been carefully thought out and designed.

"There are many more features that we designed for Horizon's Edge, but due to the constraints we mentioned earlier, we had to decide which suited our vision more, then prioritise them accordingly."

Do you have anything planned in terms of future updates for the game and, if so, can you give us any details of what these might include?

"We have many features planned! The best of which, we feel, is the PvP system.

"It complements our battle system really well and we hope players will enjoy it as we do.

"It's a monumental task for the team at this stage, but we are working on it nonetheless."

Have you any plans to bring the game to any other mobile platforms such as Windows Phone?

"Our game will launch on iOS and Android, but we aren't planning for release a Windows Phone release at this moment."

Horizon's Edge is all set for soft launch on iOS and Android in March 2016.
