The Christmas gift guide for gamers on iPhone and iPad

As Noddy Holder has been screaming for the past month and a half, it's Christmas. And that means it's time to buy presents for people you don't really know or understand.

But don't worry, if you're buying for anyone who likes a bit of iPad and iPhone gaming, we've got you covered.

We've put together a list of the best gifts that money can buy anyone with a penchant for iOS gaming on the go.

Some of them are expensive, some of them are cheap, but all of them will make your little pocket gamer smile on Christmas morning when they unwrap them.

Gift cards

Okay, bit of a cheat this one, but iTunes gift cards are a great way to stuff some stockings without having to do that much thinking.

They come in all sorts of monetary flavours, from £25 to £100, and you can either buy physical cards or digital ones that Apple will email to your beloved present receiver.

You can spend them in the App Store, so it's a good present for someone receiving their first iOS device this Christmas. Or someone who likes iOS games but always spends their money on booze.

And if you're feeling particularly lazy, here's a link to the website where you can get them from. We're not even going to charge a commission. You're welcome.

An MFi controller

If your pocket gamer is of a more serious bent, then one of these controllers will be right up their alley.

They're easy to use, and they add buttons to the iOS gaming experience, making some previously poor games far more accessible.

There are quite a few available, but we'd recommend either the Steel Series Stratus or the new, much bigger, Steel Series Nimbus. These are dedicated controllers, rather than snap-on devices, and they're a real joy to use.

There are clippy and wrappy controllers available, but you need to be sure they actually work with your loved one's device. If you want one of those, we'd recommend the Gamevice. It's pretty darn good.

Some audio equipment

If you think your iPad and iPhone-loving darling might be into creating a gaming set-up with their tablet or phone, then some bluetooth speakers might be right up their alley.

Sure, the sound on Apple's newest generations of hardware is impressive, but some speakers will give your gaming a bit more whomp.

Alternatively, get them some new headphones so you don't have to listen to the bleeps and bloops from their handset all Christmas long.

Handily Apple has a section of its store devoted to audio equipment, and you can check it out by clicking right here.

A shiny case

You've probably noticed that iPads and iPhones are ridiculously expensive. And you've probably also noticed that people are clumsy and have greasy hands.

The answer? A case. There are a variety of these available, and Apple itself does a decent line in foldy, flippy magnetic ones.

But for gaming, it's worth getting something a little less obtrusive. A nice gel case won't set you back much, and you'll probably be able to get one emblazoned with the purchasee's favourite brand.

It'll make a nice stocking filler, and it'll mean no tears if someone accidentally hurls their phone onto the floor on Christmas Day.

Some touchscreen gloves

Look, it's cold out there, and that can make playing games pretty tough. You might sprain a finger muscle. If fingers had muscles in them. But you get the point.

Why not treat the gamer in your life to some gloves they can wear while playing mobile games? Fingers stay toasty, clans get clashed, it's a win-win situation.

There are plenty of different styles out there, from ridiculous arctic-proof gauntlets to classy leather numbers. Something for everyone.

Alternatively, if you don't really like the person you're buying for, just get them some fingerless gloves. Then they'll look like an iOS gaming hobo.
