Pocket Gamer's recommendation-a-day advent calendar: Magic Touch: Wizard for Hire

Every day, as we count down to Christmas, we'll be sharing a brilliant and essential game from 2015 that didn't quite make our game of the year list. We'll reveal the very best iOS and Android games of the last 12 months on Christmas Day

Magic Touch

December 11th - Magic Touch: Wizard for Hire
iOS (Free) - Android (Free)

If it was up to me, most of this advent list would have been made up of Nitrome games. The dev has only made one slight misstep this year, and everything else it released has been pretty damn special.

One of the most interesting is Magic Touch: Wizard For Hire. It's an action game, but an action game with Nitrome's usual clever twist.

You're playing a wizard atop some battlements, beset from above my robotic knights floating on balloons. On each balloon there's a symbol. Scrawl the symbol on the screen and the balloon will pop.

It sounds simple in practice, but it gets pretty damn hectic pretty damn quickly. Some knights are carried by multiple balloons, others have more complex symbols that require dextrous scribbling.

You earn new spells as you play as well, which you can use to hold back the waves for a little longer and edge closer to your high score.

It's not just a brilliant game, it showcases the skills of one of the most talented developers working in the mobile field. If you thought Nitrome just built platform games, think again.
