One more essential game from 2015

Pocket Gamer's recommendation-a-day advent calendar: Planet Quest

Every day, as we count down to Christmas, we'll be sharing a brilliant and essential game from 2015 that didn't quite make our game of the year list. We'll reveal the very best iOS and Android games of the last 12 months on Christmas Day

Advent December 7th - *Planet Quest * iOS (Free)

You're a weird octopus alien in a spaceship who's trying to abduct a bunch of partying humans. They're dressed as animals and dancing on a wacky bunch of planets. The planets have faces.

You tap to abduct a human but you have to do it rhythmically to the beat of some incredibly infectious tune. Slightly miss-time it and you'll abduct only their costumes. Miss-time entirely and it'll hurt you.

Never abduct the sunflower people though, that's bad. Very bad.

No, I haven't gone completely and utterly insane. That up there is a description of Planet Quest, the delightfully fun and dangerously addictive rhythm action game that launched earlier this year on iOS.

It's absolutely gorgeous, bright, and happy stuff, and the rhythmic gameplay gives even the Bit.Trip franchise a run for its money.

There's so much to keep you occupied as well. You can learn the ins and outs of each song to get the high score on the leaderboards, challenge your friend's scores, and unlock a bunch of achievements by playing well.

If you haven't checked out Planet Quest yet, you owe it to yourself to do so. You'll go for the addictive gameplay, happy-go-lucky visuals, and infectious songs but you'll stay for the mice.

You'll know what I'm talking about.
