Out at midnight - Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a dad simulator with added tentacles

Are you confused yet? Is Octodad: Dadliest Catch out on iOS or not? Well, IS IT?

The answer is no. Unless you live in New Zealand then, yes, it is.

It came out prematurely yesterday and so developer Young Horses took it down almost immediately. It's best to forget that ever happened.

All you need to know for now is that it should be out at midnight wherever you are.

As to what Octodad: Dadliest Catch is all about, well, you play an octopus who is living life undercover as a dad.

He's not working as a spy or anything like that. He just wants a normal human life with his wife and children.

But there's a mad chef who wants him dead and causes things to get a bit dangerous for our poor Octodad.

This means that, as well as mowing the lawn and doing the groceries, in Dadliest Catch you'll need to help him avoid death by the chef's hand at times.

It's a game that's notable for its physics-based humour. Being an octopus in a suit means that even moving around is a lot effort. Expect deliberately clumsy controls.

Whether it holds up with touchscreen controls is something we'll have to wait and see. It'll be £3.99 / $4.99 on the App Store.

An Android version is expected on November 4th.
