Do you deserve to come home, Matt?

Matt Damon's new film The Martian gets its own mobile game, and it's a Lifeline rip-off

How'd you like a little Matt Damon inside your phone? Or, better yet, your Apple Watch?

Well, you sorta can as the new film he's in, The Martian, now has its own mobile game. It's called The Martian: Bring Him Home (just in case you didn't know what your objective was).

Bring Him Home is essentially a rip-off of Lifeline. What? It is. Let's be fair here.

The idea is to guide Matt Damon (under the character name Mark) as his sole contact back on Earth, helping him to survive a lonesome stay on Mars, and hopefully get him back home.

It plays in real-time so you can expect to get notifications throughout the day.

He'll need you to make life-or-death decisions mostly and you'll need to be quick about it. But you can also check up on his vitals at any time and seek advice from the rest of the crew at NASA.

So, yeah, it's Lifeline wrapped up in The Martian's plot line. That's no bad thing for us as we gave Lifeline a Silver Award and the format works well with the Apple Watch.

But the creator of Lifeline may not be too happy. Or maybe the studio is flattered by this Hollywood-backed copycat title?

You can purchase The Martian for £2.29 / $2.99 on the App Store and Google Play.
