TGS 2015: Final Fantasy Adventure is getting a 3D remake for iOS, Android, and PS Vita

Square Enix has announced that it has a 3D remake of Final Fantasy Adventure on the way. It'll be out for iOS, Android, and PS Vita in Japan this winter.

Never heard of it? Sit back and I'll try to explain why that may be the case.

Final Fantasy Adventure was originally released on the Game Boy back in 1991. In Europe it was called Mystic Quest.

However, it's actually a Final Fantasy spin-off title and is perhaps better known as the first game in the Mana series. The sequel, released in 1993, would be known as Secret of Mana.

Now you know all that, it should make sense when I tell you the reason Square Enix is remaking the game is for the Mana series's 25th anniversary next year.

The game's producer, Masaru Oyamada, recently told Dengeki that, if this remake does well, then the entire Mana series may gradually be remade in the same way.

Right, with all that explained, what you need to know about this remake is that it'll keep the same story as the 1991 original.

It's the visuals that are being overhauled here (as you can see in the trailer). Oh, and the Mana and SaGa composer Kenji Ito is providing a remastered soundtrack.

According to Siliconera, the other significant change in this 3D remake is that it'll use the same unique Ring Command menu system that was used in Secret of Mana.

No mention of a western release has come yet. But Square Enix has been good on releasing its games internationally so we remain hopeful.
