Horizon Chase - the third place winner at the Big Indie Pitch, for Gamescom 2015 - is not just a love letter to Outrun.

It's a tribute to the entire 80s and 90s arcade racer genre, with bits of Lotus F1 Challenge and shades of Top Gear and a whiff of Hang-On. Playing this game transports you back to an arcade, complete with sticky floors.

It's a sharp and streamlined, as you wind into corners (there's no drifting mechanic here), scoop up fuel tanks from the side of the road, and snake through packs of opponents.

Retro heads will certainly dig it. I know we did: a panel of judges (including journalists, developers, and publishers) picked it as our third favourite game from a pack of nearly 30 at the speed dating-style show off.
