Okay, let's get the obvious bit out of the way first. Heroki looks absolutely gorgeous. Not just mobile-gaming gorgeous, actually full-on, you-wouldn't-be-surprised-to-see-this-sort-of-quality-on-a-console gorgeous.

And that's great. It's just a shame that the game underneath the stunning cartoon visuals can't live up to them. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but it's got some pretty big flaws that will leave you frustrated.

Level

You play the titular Heroki. He's a chirpy lad with a helicopter for a haircut, who floats around a variety of different levels collecting things, solving simple puzzles, and grinning like he's never had his heart broken.

You control Heroki in one of three ways. You can drag him round, push him round, or using a floating D-pad. All the schemes are manageable, but you're still going to bump into a lot of scenery whichever you pick.

Tapping on the screen puts you in free-fall, and tapping on objects lets you pick them up. Then you can drag on Heroki to toss them, Angry Birds-style, at enemies and obstacles.

But everything sort of gets in everything else's way. Sometimes you'll plummet when you just wanted to move a little bit. Other times you'll start moving when you wanted to chuck something.

There are stability problems too. I got stuck in the scenery once, and a couple of times the game crashed to my Home Screen and lost a chunk of my progress. Which is annoying.

Heroic?

There's still something to Heroki, and when things click together it's almost as smart as it looks.

But then it'll do something annoying, like not being clear enough about you needing to collect a large number of the secrets on each level, and you'll call it a bad word.

There isn't one major flaw here, there's just a lot of niggles that constantly make you think you could be doing something else. And after a while, when they've all built up, you probably will.

And that's a shame, because you'll really, really want to like Heroki. But right now it's probably not worth the premium price that it's asking.

Heroki - Right now, probably not worth it

It might look amazing, but there are too many little problems here to wholeheartedly recommend the game
