Dolphin emulator shown off running GameCube / Wii games on Android TV
|

The development team behind the Dolphin emulator has shared a new video of it running at full speed on NVIDIA Shield Android TV.

Dolphin is primarily an emulator for PC that lets you play Wii and GameCube games on non-Nintendo hardware.

This is something that Android emulators haven't been able to do until now. The fact that the Dolphin emulator can is a big deal.

However, the emulator was first tried out on Android back in 2013 to bad results. The team has been working on it since then and it seems that it's close to having it finished.

The video above is proof of this: "The results are what we've been waiting for: finally some games can run full speed," writes the team.

As you can see in the video, Dolphin on Android can now run a range of GameCube and Wii games such as Resident Evil 2, Ikaruga, Luigi's Mansion, and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Hopefully, with any luck, Dolphin will be able to run smoothly and safely on Android in due time. You can track the development over on the Dolphin blog.
