We've seen a bunch of games that use recording tech to make video clips out of your game sessions. But FireWhip might be the first game to turn your shenanigans into that oh-so popular image type: the animated GIF.

When you finish a challenge or get killed during score attack mode, you get the opportunity to turn your explosive victory or your embarrassing death into a few-second GIF.

The image can then be uploaded to Imgur or Twitter. You can see the results, above.

FireWhip

It's an interesting way to market your game: GIFs are big business on Twitter and Facebook. And by giving the tools to its players, developer Dan Fitzgerald can make short clips of his game spread across the web like… wild fire.

As indie developers struggle to stand out amongst the crowd on mobile, it's fascinating to see the little marketing tricks being used to help developers get their game discovered.

The rather-exquisite (review coming soon) FireWhip is out now on iPhone and iPad for 79p / 99c. An Android version will be on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore later today.
