Team Meat has announced that its hardcore 2D platformer Super Meat Boy is finally coming to PS Vita and PS4 later this year.

What's even better is that it will be available for free in its first month if you're PlayStation Plus member. Neat, huh?

Super Meat Boy was first launched as an exclusive on Xbox 360 back in 2010 but has since also been released on PC.

Team Meat wanted to bring it to PlayStation consoles before but due to some "very complicated reasons" (read: legal reasons) it wasn't possible until now.

It has you playing as Meat Boy as he flies across various dangerous worlds to reach his kidnapped girlfriend Bandage Girl. The villain is an evil scientist called Dr. Fetus who, yes, is an actual fetus in a glass jar.

It's notoriously hard but has superb controls so let's hope that the PS Vita does it justice.
