Square Enix announces Kingdom Hearts X[chi] for iOS and Android in Japan

Square Enix has announced that it's bringing the Japan-only browser title Kingdom Hearts X[chi] to iOS and Android in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine.

This is the announcement that Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura teased a few weeks ago, you may remember.

The smartphone version of Kingdom Hearts X[chi] is based on the browser game. However, it has been reworked for touchscreens, of course, and will have new story mechanics.

If you didn't know, it's a sidescrolling MMORPG that has each player acting as a Keyblade wielder during the Great Keyblade War. Its story has ties to upcoming console title Kingdom Hearts III.

Unfortunately, the browser version is only available in Japan and the same goes for this iOS and Android version. You can be hopeful for a western release if you wish but it seems unlikely.
