Previously, Lab Zero Games announced a name change for the PS Vita (and PS4) version of its 2D fighting game Skullgirls. It's now called Skullgirls 2nd Encore.

The reason for the name change was due to extra features being available in these upcoming versions of the game not available in other ones.

What Lab Zero didn't mention is what these new features would be. But now the studio has rectified that.

As such, we now know that Skullgirls 2nd Encore will add a fully-voiced Story Mode, a Challenges, Trials, and a Survival Mode.

To clarify: Challenges give you unique battle conditions to beat opponents (such as not jumping against Big Band), while Trials tests your ability to perform combos.

Survival mode is endless and is a test of how many enemies you can take on before defeat.

Lab Zero also reiterated that it would support cross-play between all PlayStation versions of the game. And that cross-buy would be supported between the PS4 and PS Vita.

It'll also have a full platinum trophy set for all you trophy hunters out there.

Now you know what makes Skullgirls 2nd Encore so special. When it will be available to buy is unknown but it's expected in the "coming months."
