Gory, gothic slash 'em up Slain! is 'likely' to come to PS Vita

How do you fancy a homage to hack 'n' slash games of the '80s and '90s on your Vita? Well, you might get one.

It's called Slain!, and it's currently on Kickstarter, where Wolf Brew Games is hoping to raise $12,000 to finish the PC and Xbox One versions.

However, if you scroll down the page, you'll see that the studio says that it's gauging interest in PS4 and PS Vita versions of the game.

And so, I asked Nick Alfieri of Digerati Distribution - who is handling marketing for Wolf Brew - how likely a PS Vita version of Slain! is at this point.

"It's looking pretty likely to be honest. Already been asked a good number of times about Vita," he said.

"I guess we will introduce it as a stretch goal. But either way I think it's going to happen, it will just happen a lot quicker if we hit a stretch goal."

Sounds promising, doesn't it? Even if a stretch goal isn't reached it seems like the game will eventually end up on Vita.

Which means our interest in it is certainly justified. But, what is Slain! exactly?

Well, you play a guy called Bathoryn who must travel across a gothic fantasy world to climb seven towers and defeat the spirits at the top.

He does this to rid the evil (demons, ghouls, great wolves) that have taken over the landscape. It consists of side-scrolling levels and, when ascending the towers, vertically-scrolling levels.

As Bathoryn, you have a large sword to slice things up with. But he also has magic he can cast and bombs to throw for an explosive finish.

Slain!

My favourite part are the traps. One of them is a hole that crushes Bathoryn with two walls. He turns into a gloopy red paste. It's disgusting but I love it.

Anyway, if you want to further encourage that Vita version along consider backing Slain! on Kickstarter. Or maybe help to spread the word. Check out its website while you're at it.
