NightCry, the spiritual follow-up to Clock Tower, finally has a gameplay trailer.

While its Kickstarter video did show off a few clips, the new trailer reveals more of the game's atmosphere, controls, and its main antagonist Scissorwalker.

I don't know if this is Scissorman 2.0, or a new character entirely, but it does wield the signature giant scissors from the Clock Tower series.

NightCry is a point-and-click adventure, also like the older Clock Tower games. It's set on board a luxury cruise liner following a series of mysterious murders.

According to the trailer, fighting back is out of the question. Your only option for survival is to run, hide, or find another means to defend yourself.

As we can see in the video, the game seems to utilize some interesting touch-based mechanics to manage your fear levels.

If you skip ahead to a minute and 55 seconds, you'll see the player character hiding in a closet while a cursor chases a human heart symbol around the screen.

While the build of the game being demoed here is clearly on PC, an actual desktop version will only happen if the Kickstarter is fully funded.

Even if it's not, NightCry is headed to iOS, Android, and PlayStation Vita.

The team is asking for $300k, but have only managed to raise $50k so far, with 19 days left to go.

If you want to donate, check out the NightCry Kickstarter.

If you haven't seen it already, don't miss the live action NightCry teaser from last month, by Ju-on: The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu.
