Destructamundo is a game about chaining together nuclear explosions. Its catastrophes are stylish and slick, each taking the shape of a murderous puzzle.

There's a thread of bleak humour running through the game as well, as a sardonic general rates your progress and berates you for berating you's sake.

There are some difficulty spikes, and the odd idea could be presented in a clearer manner, but there's still enough fun to be had here that you're unlikely to be too disappointed by the game's foibles.

Tiny rocks

The aim of each level is to destroy all the planetary systems on the screen. You do this by tapping on the screen to unleash a nuclear warhead.

You need to create chain reactions of explosions, letting the spin of the systems send their nuclear reactors into the swelling explosion you created.

Cleverly positioned bombs can set off chains of destruction in multiple systems, and using planets with exposed cores lets you create super explosions that cover half the screen.

As you play you'll find new challenges facing you, from forcefields that need to be disabled before you can attack a system, to supply ships that you can set on fire and use to trigger explosions in far-off colonies.

Your ultimate goal is clearing the screen using just one bomb. This lets you collect minerals that you can spend on different weapons to give you an edge later on in the game.

Explosions in the sky

Destructamundo is brilliantly well put together. It looks and sounds great, and it has a unique, retro look that always makes it clear what you need to do.

There are some levels that'll have you scratching your head trying to figure out how to kill everything with a single tap.

But the frustration rarely outweighs the fun, and there's something to be said for the cathartic nature of wiping out entire solar systems with a jab of your finger.

Destructamundo

A sharp-edged destruction puzzler, Destructamundo isn't perfect, but it'll put a smile on your face all the same
