A cheeky coder has figured out a way to play any Game Boy Color game on the Nintendo 3DS, by using a Virtual Console game and an exploit in the console's web browser.

In the video above, KazoWAR loads up the Virtual Console version of Link's Awakening. Then, he or she resets the game and - at that moment - changes to the web browser and opens a file they have created.

Then, once the VC game is resumed it changes to Pokemon Yellow. And it will apparently work with any Color ROM file you have lying around, you just need to use the files - found in the YouTube description - to inject it into the Virtual Console emulator.

Obviously, don't do that. It's naughty. And Pocket Gamer assumes no responsibility if you balls up your console in the process.

According to Nintendo Life, the exploit "works right up to the current firmware version - 9.0-9.4 - but does not work on the New Nintendo 3DS which uses an updated web browser."
