Barmy, action-packed pinball-type game Danganronpa: Unlimited Battles is out in Japan for iOS

Spike Chunsoft has released the free to play pinball-like action game Danganronpa: Unlimited Battle on iOS in Japan.

It might be the oddest game in the series yet. And that's saying something considering that the two prior visual novels are known for being quite barmy.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is about students being told to murder each other by a psychotic teddy bear, for instance.

As said, though, Unlimited Battle isn't a visual novel, and that's what makes it odd. It's a pinball game, and if you watch the trailer, it seems to be quite an explosive and madcap one at that.

You assemble a team of four characters that you then slingshot, one by one, at a group of opposing enemies. The character then bounces around the enemies like a pinball, unleashing attacks.

The characters are chibi versions of the cast of Trigger Happy Havoc. And there's a lot of them, too.

Being free to play, Unlimited Battle offers a bunch of IAPs to acquire more Monokuma Coins, which is the in-game currency.

If you have a have Japanese iTunes account, you can download Danganronpa: Unlimited Battle on the App Store [download] for free right now.

If you don't, you'll have to wait to see if it gets released in other countries in the future.
