How to use PS4 Remote Play on any Android phone or tablet

One of the coolest features on PlayStation 4 is Remote Play, which lets you play your games away from the TV, on a device like the PS Vita or a Sony-brand smartphone.

But that's not all, as some wily hackers have figured out how to get it working on any Android device running 4.2 or up. So you can play Spelunky on a Nexus 7 or Far Cry 4 on a HTC One.

Here's how.

01

First things first, you need to download this APK file to your Android device and install it. Load it up and hit 'Skip' when it asks you to register a Dualshock 4. We'll come back to that.

02

Turn on your PS4, go to the Settings menu and find 'Remote Play Connection Settings'. Hit 'Add Device' to get a code.

03

Back on your Android, press 'Next', and then choose 'Skip'. You'll be taken to a page with a text box, so go ahead and type in the code on your TV.

Don't worry, you won't have to do that every time. With your device registered to your PS4 you'll now be able to connect instantly from the app just by hitting 'Next'.

04

After that a connection will be made and you'll see your PS4 homescreen on your device. You can use the virtual buttons to navigate, and if hit the three bars at the bottom you'll have buttons for share, options, and home.

05

If you want to use a Dualshock 4 then you're going to have to root your device first. If you've done that, download this manager, then move the APK into ‘/system/app/’ and change the permissions to RW-R-R. Reboot your device to get it working.
