As was promised last week, Mojang has released its tactical turn-based battler Scrolls for Android tablets.

It combines what Mojang consider to be the best bits of collectible card games and tactical wargames.

It's played by two players who aim to destroy three of their opponent's six idols.

To this end, you collect scrolls (cards, basically) that you "sacrifice" to the hex-based map.

The scrolls come in different types. Creatures attack other units, spells have a variety of effects, enchantments enhance items, while structures reinforce your resources.

Speaking of resources, you need these to play the scrolls, and the more you have the more power you possess.

During each turn you can play only one scroll. You also choose between drawing another scroll from your deck, or obtaining more resources.

Scrolls is free to download on Google Play and is supported by IAPs. No surprises to find out that there is in-game gold, then.

Mojang has said that it aims to brings Scrolls to iPad in the new year. We'll let you know exactly when that date is once we find out.
