Ahoy there driver

This is a bit of a weird one, so bear with me. Remember Driver, the sort-of open world crime driving sim that saw you skidding around cities, avoiding the cops, and generally being an irresponsible citizen?

Well Ubisoft has just soft launched a new entry in the series in New Zealand and Australia. Except this time you're not driving a car. You're driving a boat. So more Boater than Driver I guess.

The game is called Driver Speedboat Paradise, and rather than piloting your boat around open cities, you're basically involved in races.

Occasionally you need to burst through police lines using a nitro boost though, so there's that.

There are a variety of races and time trials to sail through in the single player campaign mode, and it looks pretty nice I guess.

For some reason all I can think about is the Hulk Hogan-fronted TV show Thunder in Paradise. That also had boats in it and didn't really make any sense.

If you're interested in giving the game a go you can grab it right now for nothing if you live in Australia or New Zealand. We'll let you know when it goes live in the rest of the world as well.
