Out at midnight: Crossy Road is a Frogger-like endless traffic dodger
Why DID the chicken cross the road?
You better like roadkill as you'll be seeing plenty of it if you play Crossy Road after it comes out tonight.
It's an endless arcade "froguelike" (Frogger and roguelike). That means you'll be tapping your screen to transport chickens, frogs, unihorses, and penguins across traffic-filled roads.
That's as perilous as that should sound. But it's made easy due to the simple controls: swipe to move left and right, tap to move forward.
It's also not as grim as seeing a flattened badger along the M5 due to the blocky, Minecraft-esque visuals that make death almost cute to behold.
The last thing to note is that it's free to play. Hold your snake tongues, though, as the IAPs only let you purchase the different animals early, which are cosmetic changes.
You can earn them in-game fairly and squarely with some determination and hard work.
You can download Crossy Road for free on the UK and US App Stores at midnight. Just remember to look both ways.
