Out at midnight: Flyhunter Origins is a bug-catching platformer by Pixar animators

Flyhunter Origins leaps like a hunter with a net onto iOS tonight. We presume that it will also make an appearance on Android tomorrow too, but we don't know at this point.

It's an action platformer that we took a hands-on look at when at Gamescom last year.

It excels in its animation due to being made by people who have worked, or still do work, at Pixar. At the time, the rest of the game's design needed to do some catching up.

It follows space janitor Zak after he accidentally jettisons a cargo of expensive insects back to Earth.

With the Flyhunters that caught them deep in cryo sleep, it's up to Zak and you to get the insects back whence they came.

This leads to fairly typical sidescrolling platformer sections. You run, jump, double jump, and climb your way across the miniature world of insects.

There are other sections played in 3D from-behind in which you need to chase a fly, catch up with it, and catch it.

As you progress through the levels you'll flick back and forth between these two types of challenges.

If you want to check it out, Flyhunter Origins will be available to purchase for £1.99 / $2.99 on the UK and US App Stores at midnight.

Once again, it will be coming to Android, we just don't know when.
