Here's every Mega Evolution coming to Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

A round-up of the 20 revealed so far, plus a few other additions

Here's every Mega Evolution coming to Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

One of the most exciting features added to Pokémon X and Y was a new form of transformation for existing Pokémon - Mega Evolution.

Their introduction meant Game Freak had an excuse to reinvigorate lesser-known 'mon and upgrade classics, bolstering base stats and bestowing new Abilities.

28 Mega Evolutions were available in Pokémon X and Y, and with the upcoming release of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, we can expect at least 20 more.

Tons of details regarding the new Mega Evolutions and more surfaced last week mere hours after the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demo was released, thanks to dataminers.

While all the details below have been confirmed, that's not to say these'll necessarily be the only Mega Evolutions in the full titles.

Without further ado, here are the confirmed Mega Evolutions in their National Pokédex order:

Mega Beedrill

An unexpected choice, especially if the other early forest bug Pokémon aren't getting in on the Mega Evolution action. Mega Beedrill gains boosts to its Attack and Speed stats, while its Adaptability Ability means Bug and Poison moves will hit twice as hard.

Mega Pidgeot

I think you'll agree, that's some fine plumage right there, going hand in hand with a nice big Special Attack stat boost. Mega Pidgeot's new Ability is No Guard, ensuring each move it makes will always hit.

Mega Slowbro

Mega Slowbro's Shell Armor ability blocks critical hits, plus it's receiving a big Defense and a bit of a Special Attack upgrade. Slightly disappointing, especially as it probably means we aren't getting a Mega Slowking.

Mega Steelix

Unlocked in the Japanese Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demo, Steelix's Mega Evolution receives the Sand Force Ability, which is only really useful for a sandstorm weather-based team. Decent upgrades to its Attack and both Defense and Special Defense though.

Mega Sceptile

After the promotional Hoenn starter Torchic was given away with its Mega Stone last year, the other two have joined the party. Albeit with slightly more pants Abilities. Mega Sceptile receives stat boosts all-round, but its Lightning Rod Ability merely attracts Electric Attacks in Double and Triple Battles.

Mega Swampert

Beefy. Mega Swampert's Ability is a little better than Mega Sceptile's - Swift Swim. This Ability doubles Swampert's Speed stat, but only during the rainy weather condition. Again, almost all its stats are boosted too.

Mega Sableye

Mega Sableye receives some much-needed improvements to its Defense and Special Defense stats, while also nabbing the rather ace Magic Bounce Ability, which reflects all status conditions thrown at it right back in your foe's face.

Mega Sharpedo

While it looks ridiculous, this Mega Evolution improves almost all of Sharpedo's stats, plus its Strong Jaw Ability makes all biting-based moves 50% stronger.

Mega Camerupt

Camerupt's Attack, Defence, Special Attack, and Special Defence stats all increase somewhat with this Mega Evolution. Its Sheer Force Ability help a little too, increasing the power of attacks that can cause status conditions, while removing said effect.

Mega Altaria

Mega Altaria switches its secondary typing from Flying to Fairy, while its new Ability, Pixilate, changes all Normal-type moves to Fairy-type, resulting in a same-type attack bonus of 50%. Oh, plus boost to Attack and Special Attack too.

Mega Glalie

You may have already unlocked this beastie if you've played through the western Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demo. Much like Mega Altaria, Mega Glalie receives both Attack and Special Attack buffs, while the Refrigerate Ability changes Normal-type moves to Ice-type. Get ready to obliterate all Dragon-types.

Mega Salamence

My favourite of the new Mega Evolution designs. Mega Salamence receives a big injection to its Defence stat, and every other stat bar HP for good measure. Its new Aerilate Ability changes Normal-type moves to Flying-type, allowing for even more moves to make use of its Flying same-type attack bonus.

Mega Metagross

Metagross's mettle improves even more with stat bonuses flung at it from every angle - particularly Speed. Its access to the Tough Claws ability means contact moves hit 33% harder. Not bad at all.

Mega Latias

Unfortunately, the Eon duo receive no new Ability as part of their Mega Evolution, meaning they're stuck with the rather naff Levitate ability, which negates Ground-type attacks. However, Latias's secondary typing does change to Fairy. Stat improvements focus on Defense and Special Defense, but Attack and Special Attack are amplified somewhat too.

Mega Latios

Same as above, only a tad less exotic with no new secondary type change, and improvements focusing on Attack and Special Attack, with Defense and Special Defense amplified somewhat too.

Mega Rayquaza

Mega Rayquaza's new Delta Stream Ability summons up a new weather condition that cancels out all others, and improved stats for everything except HP.

Mega Lopunny

I think this is the only Pokémon that makes me feel ill just by looking at it. Probably because it was my first Shiny Pokémon way back in Pokémon Diamond. Lopunny gets a huge Attack stat injection, plus some extra Speed for good measure. Its Scrappy ability means it won't have trouble hitting Ghost-types any more.

Mega Gallade

Gallade joins its cousin, Gardevoir, in the Mega Evolution club. Its Attack, Defense, and Speed stats all improve, plus the Inner Focus Ability means it'll never flinch in battle ever again.

Mega Audino

The only Generation V pokemon to receive a Mega Evolution so far. A great support Pokémon, now with extra Defense and Special Defense, plus the Healer Ability that can remove status conditions from other Pokémon on your team in Double and Triple Battles.

Mega Diancie

This only recently-released Event Pokémon finally finds its Mega Stone, granting it tons more Attack, Special Attack, and Speed at the price of Defense and Special Defense. It will receive the Magic Bounce Ability alongside Mega Sableye, which chucks all status conditions back at the caster.

Primal Groudon / Primal Kyogre

Primal Reversions are different from Mega Evolutions - they automatically change at the start of each battle and you can have more than one on your team at any given moment.

Primal Groudon has its Attack, Special Attack, Special Defense stats upgraded, and receives a brand-new Ability. The Desolate Land Ability renders Water moves useless, while blocking other weather effects, powering up Fire-type moves and much more besides.

Primal Kyogre follows the formula, with boosted Attack, Defense, and Special Attack. Its Primordial Sea Ability nullifies all Fire-type moves, blocks other weather effects, boosts Water-type moves, plus the other benefits that come with the Rain weather condition.

New Hoopa Forme

A new Forme of the still-unreleased Pokémon Hoopa (datamined from Pokémon X and Y last year) has surfaced too. It's rumoured to have different base stats and a completely different move set. Mysterious!

Which do you think might still be missing? Which would you like to turn up? Let us know in the comments below!

(I'm hoping for a Mega Jellicent myself, and I think a Mega Froslass is highly likely to materialise soon enough... why else would Ninty have Froslass character art in amongst Beedrill and Pidgeot in their press assets?)
